Ruminations

She ruminates from time to time in darkness, memories...past trauma. She lets these things get a hold of her in ways that are scary and self tormenting. In many ways she allows the abuse to continue...
The difference: Now she is able to linger long enough to identify that she wants to be someplace else, darkness fades more and more these days. She ruminates...but not as much as before.
